Looking great on camera—express yourself
- You have the confidence you need, so now let's talk about what to wear. Your style is part of your personal brand. In other words, how you're recognized and what you're known for. Your style is part of how you communicate your message. So what do you feel most comfortable in? This is the first question we need to answer in order to choose style. Is business casual your thing? Or are you a formal dresser? Are you trendy? Or do you prefer jeans and a nice t-shirt? Or maybe something else entirely. I'm your communication unicorn. That's more like it. When you're choosing your style, think about who your audience is. What will they resonate with most? The goal is to be approachable and relatable to the community that you're building. You've probably heard a lot about avoiding certain colors and patterns on camera. This is less important when you're making video that will be viewed online. And now that the general standard for television is a pretty high resolution, those rules are also less important. You are now primed and ready to look great on camera. Remember, stop those negative thought patterns, you look great. Watch yourself on video regularly, become familiar with the you that everyone else sees, and choose your style by deciding how you're most comfortable and approachable.
