- As remote pilots in command, we are in charge of the safety of all of our flights but it is more than just being in charge. It is our responsibility, both legal and moral, to make sure that we check all we need to check to ensure safety. This is something that I take very seriously when flying both manned and unmanned aircraft because it is not so much that I am in charge, it is that I am responsible for the safety of that flight. Preflight inspection assesses the operating environment. Includes informing any crew members of what they need to know. Of course, it includes examining the sUAS, having the necessary documents with us at all times and the actual inspection of the aircraft which includes control links, power, weight and balance and making sure that the registration number is visible.
