Managing contractors

- Managing contractors can be a bit tricky. After all, you're working with outside people and the risk can increase. But there's also great opportunity here to add diverse talent and to try out fresh ideas on a project. When working with contractors, it's really important that you have clear expectations. You need to let them know what you need and what's expected. But the challenge here is that since they are contractors and not employees, you can only make suggestions. You can't set a call time or an exact start time, because as a contractor, it's up to them to decide when they show up. Now, you could of course reward good behavior and hire the crew that shows up on time or is ready for the roll time that you've set, but you have to be a little bit more flexible.
