Mastering color space
- Well you think you've seen enough specs to make your head swim, but I've got one more for you and that's color space. When we represent colors in the digital world we assign them specific numbers, like 8-bit red is 255, 255, 255 so that seems like, it would ensure that everybody sees our end product exactly the way we do when we're working on it in production or post. But that's not the case and that's because the range of perceivable color that our various screens can deliver differs from device to device and it also depends on whether or not they're well calibrated. So, first of all when you're in the field definitely make sure you have a well calibrated monitor. That's very important. Now if you're delivering for the web you need to know that web browsers and many apps are not color managed or if they are people might be using the wrong settings to view your content.
