Motion capture with the Puppet tool

- [Instructor] One of my favorite tools in After Effects has to be the puppet tool. It's fantastic for animating characters like this. This is an Illustrator file and it's just on a single layer. If I double click it to open it up in the layer panel you'll see that it's just one single layer on a transparent background, and the puppet tool is ideal for this kind of thing where you don't have layers. So I'm going to grab the puppet pin tool and I'm going to add some points. Basically the way it works is as you add points it creates a mesh over the character. You can see that mesh displayed here. You have settings for the mesh up here, so I can increase or decrease the density. So you see that if I bring that down to maybe a value of five the triangles that make up the mesh are bigger and if I increase the intensity, so if we go up to a value of 12 you'll see it's more detailed.
