- This course has been a very high-level overview of the role of a video producer. You should have a much better understanding of the expectation that come with the role. A great way to practice being a video producer is to break down finished project. You can find lots of them online. Watch a commercial, and then put together a production plan and a budget that you think it would take to complete that commercial. Create the whole production schedule, including crew breaks and post-production. Do the same with some corporate videos, or maybe even a 30 minute television show. Now the best way to get started as a producer is to simply start producing. Volunteer your services for a project. Non-profit organizations can always use some free help.
