- When shooting video, we generally need to have some lights to make our scenes and subjects look professional. Nothing says amateur more than an unlit scene that is darker than the background. Not good. In this chapter, I'm going to show you a lot of different types of lighting fixtures, from LED to florescent, as well as the more traditional tungsten. I'll break down the two different variations, soft as well as hard light. Plus some great ways to use them. Understanding what the characteristics of each of the fixtures are will enable you to find the right lights that fit your needs the best. Technology has advanced a lot in the last few years, bringing in cooler running, high output and multi color adjustable fixtures that can change color with a simple turn of a dial. This feature alone is great. Wouldn't it be nice to just dial in the color temperature instead of using color correction gels that will lower the output? We have so many options.
