The Power Place technique

- One of the easiest ways to size content, and to do so in a way that allows for editing in the future, is to use the Place command. Let me show you how this works. To start, create a new document that matches your deliverable. I'm going to go with the HD preset here, but you can use any of these formats that you regularly need to deliver. Remember, you can access them from the film and video category, and click Create. Now what you want to do, is choose File, Place. And there are two types of place, embedded, and linked. The linked option looks at the file, and it needs it to stay in the same place on the hard drive. So linked keeps the file sizes down, but means that you are dependent upon the original source file, always being present. Personally, I find this a little bit risky. Because you might find yourself doing things like actually backing up files, or copying and moving them, and you might miss one of…
