- Great content is often a byproduct of great planning. And so the pre-production process is extremely important when you're doing online video creation. One of the things that I like to pay attention to is the setting and staging area for when you're filming. There are a lot of reasons that you want to do this. One of the main ones is so that whatever you're doing in terms of your on-camera presence and performance isn't having to compete with a distracting background or environment. There are a few things that I really focus on when it comes to this. One of the most important ones is eliminating reflective surfaces in the background. It can be really distracting, not only from a lighting standpoint, but it could also reveal things that you don't necessarily want to show up in the final product when it comes to filming.
