Progressive interlaced
- Alright, let's talk about shooting progressive or interlaced. Back in the last century, television broadcasters introduced the interlaced spec in order to cram as much information as possible into a very small visual bandwidth. So, they did this by sending half the image in one frame, and then half in the next frame, and your eyes really couldn't tell the difference. So effectively, 60 interlaced fields would be the same as 30 progressive fields per second. Nowadays, unless you're shooting for a broadcaster who demands an interlaced spec, or you're specifically shooting for a large live event, using interlaced projectors, or maybe your used to working with an awful lot of legacy interlaced footage so you really just wanna keep everything in the same format, then I would suggest shooting progressive.
