Protecting your gear from damage

- If you're like me, this bag on your back is worth a lot of money, but it's also a close friend and the one thing that you don't want to have happen to it is for it to become damaged. This movie is all about preventing your gear from becoming damaged and what to do along the way if it does. When you're out shooting on the road, you're definitely going to want to protect your gear from damage. For me, this starts off with a bag which we've discussed. I use the Lowepro Tactic to carry all of my gear around and the pouch itself happens to be very protective of all the gear that I placed inside it, a lot of padding. As you can see, you can also switch around the compartments. And then I take further steps inside the bag. Lenses went into particular pouches. My memory cards all went into one specific case to make sure that they weren't going to get damaged or for any reason lost inside the bag. And then, not to mention the conditions when it was rainy, I actually had a rain cover for my DSLR cameras. I recommend a rain cover rather than trying to do a trick like just a plastic bag, although it's more expensive, as the rain cover allows you to operate the camera very easily once you place it inside. You can still operate the buttons. In Iceland, we went to a particular waterfalls, and as we got closer to the waterfall, mist started to fall on the lens. And to make sure that I wouldn't scratch the lens to remove some of the water, I had a microfiber cloth handy, as well as a spray to spray air on the lens to get rid of any of the dust, as well as appropriate clean spray so the lens would be good at all occasions. We've got a bag, we've got extra padding in the bag to make sure that's protected because it's a camera bag. I placed my lenses and other items in additional bags to make sure that it was well protected. Then, not to mention that we have certain cleaning supplies for my lenses and my camera, as well as something I love is to place things into Ziploc bags. It's just another layer of protection, keeps everything together, nice, neat, and organized.
