Reconciling change orders

- It's pretty rare that a project goes exactly to plan, meaning that the plan you laid out at the beginning is exactly what happens at the end. It's the very nature of creative projects that things don't go exactly right, or that a better idea happens later on in the creative process. But change orders are critically important. These are written instructions or notes from a conversation that have sign-off. When it comes time to reconcile those change orders, this is part of the project close-out. So always start by pulling the original scope of work. Look at it, and make sure that none of those items were removed. If they were, you need to check if there was an agreement about returning funds or how the money was going to be spent. More likely, though, other things came in or were added.
