- To recreate this shot, we had our models stand across from each other. We used a similar, plain brown burlap background because that's what we had on set. Feels like it'd be kind of like cheating to bring in some amazing background for the reenactment. Notice that we have similar lighting here, all from the direction of the camera and this looks about as bad as my original shot, so starting from the same place. The first thing I want to do is get rid of all this terrible light. I wanted this light to have shape and obvious direction. I wanted to use tons of shadow areas to visually represent the seriousness of the situation here. And like I've mentioned a billion times in this course, I really like lighting from behind the subject, so I put a single 650 Watt Fresnel high up shining down on them. Especially in this particular case, a single light from behind our subjects illuminates them and lights up the edges of their faces that are facing each other. This focuses our attention on…
