Reviewing the elements of a successful team startup
- Building an effective team is critical to the success when it comes to managing a creative project. Having a great project manager is very helpful, but if the team is weak or struggling, it's going to be the downfall of the project. Here are a couple of things to consider. First up, make sure that everyone on the team agrees on a common purpose. This is one of the benefits of that scoping document. Ultimately, the client is the one that sets the requirements, but everyone on the team needs to understand things. While they may not read the full project scoping document or plan, the executive summary is useful here, letting people know the goal of the project and the why of the project is very critical. It's also a good idea to identify the project stakeholders. This way, if the project manager isn't available, or key people reach out, the rest of the team knows how to respond.
