- You have finished a first draft and that is awesome. It is a big achievement and you should totally be proud. There are a lot of people who start a script and they never finish. So the fact that you got from fade in to fade out is definitely something you should feel good about. Now that being said, there is a saying that goes something along the lines of the essence of writing is rewriting, and that is true. Every first draft can always be improved upon. And that's not about, that's not a statement about you as a writer, that's because screenplays are cohesive whole units. They're used to create something that gets put onto the screen that is then going to be consumed all the way through. And so there's really no way to judge how well a script is working or not until you can look at the whole picture. The best scene in the world won't feel that way in the final product if the scenes on either end of it…
