Setting transparency
- A popular option is to create a translucent bug, sometimes called a jelly bug. It's one where some of the details behind the image can show through. Here's how to make one. What we need to do is remove the information we don't need. So I'll just select this text here and choose edit, fill, and fill with pure white. Now what we need to do is select the logo. Well, this is actually pretty easy. If we go here under channels, we could just command or control-click on the channel. And you see it makes an initial selection. In this case, it's selected all of the bright areas. What I'll do now is choose select, inverse, and it chooses the rest. If you're using a newer version of Photoshop, you can also take advantage of the object selection tool. This will allow you to drag and select the object and it will attempt to make a basic selection. But in this case, it wasn't quite as precise as I would like. So I'll just…
