- Setting up your system for optimum webcam presence is important in getting the best quality possible, and that starts with your computer. Now one of the most important things you can do to get a great image is to prevent patchy internet connectivity. At the time I'm recording this course, most video conferencing software has a minimum requirement of about 500 kilobits per second, and about 1.8 megabits per second for high-definition calls. Don't forget, though, most video calls aren't just one-way data flow. You've got multiple streams of video working simultaneously. Conversing with one other person typically doubles those data requirements, and adding more beyond that depends on the app, as some video conferencing software handles multi-person calls better than others.
