- [Instructor] In this story we're going to look at the actual green screen. I have spent so many hours of my life trying to key out green screens that just weren't shot correctly. So, here are a few thoughts about shooting green screen footage that will save you hours in post production, and will also reduce your stress levels immensely. Number one, get rid of wrinkles. Smooth out that screen. When a screen has wrinkles, even small little wrinkles, there are pockets of light and shadow that make it very difficult to key easily. This is especially true for trying to key out fine details like wispy hair. Just take a portable steamer and give it a once over. It might take a few minutes on set, but it can save you hours in post, and also create a much better result. Number two, light the screen evenly. It's important that each area of the green screen, at least the parts around the subject you're trying to key, all have the same exact shade of green. This will make keying so much easier;…
