Shooting techniques for video interviews

- Hi, my name is Kevin Bradley. I'm an award-winning director of photography with 17 years in the industry. I'm based in Washington, D.C. But I've been all over the world to almost all 50 states in my career. This course is about video interview lighting. Video interview lighting is something I know a whole lot about as I shoot a lot of interviews. Talking heads as we call them in the industry. Some of the tips and tricks that I'm going to teach you in this course are not necessarily something you're going to read in a book. These are tips and tricks that I've picked up over 17 years of battle-hardened experience onsite working. In this course, I'm going to teach you how to be consistent with your results. Using methods that I've used over my 17 year career. The way that your interview is lit is critical to the mood that you're trying to create. So for each project, the lighting's going to be a little bit different. Your choices are going to be a little bit different. Last, we're going to talk about the most consistent lights that you will find, which are LED panels. And LED panels on their own area not usually the most flattering or the best lights for your talent. I show you how to shape the light and how to take those harsh LEDs and make them soft. I'm going to show you how to use professional modifiers, as well as DIY modifiers that you can get at your local hardware store. Sometimes you're on a tighter budget, so DIY becomes an important part of making shots consistently great. For this, we're only going to use three lights for each setup. And the reason we're going to do that is we're going to keep things simple. That's what this class is about. It's about being simple, but effective, creating beautiful results only using three lights in a setup.
