- Assuming we have a script or at the very least a well-planned outline, the very next step is to create a shotlist. As with script writing software applications, there are many shortlisting options available, including some that work great, like Google Keep or Notes. I have been using an app called Shot Lister. It works really well on my laptop and smartphone and allows me to reorganize my schedule depending on how the day goes. Storyboards are great for complex scenes that require a lot of action and blocking. Since that's usually not what I do, and I cannot draw, I very rarely work with storyboards. Now, mood boards are a completely different story and I use them all the time. Mood boards are also known as look boards or inspiration boards in other industries like fashion or interior design, but there are pretty much the same thing.
