The Silhouette interface

- [Instructor] Before we start our first project inside Silhouette, I want to spend a few moments to discuss the various components of the Silhouette interface. I'll go through these one at a time. The bottom left is the Sources panel. This is where you can import image sequences and still images. To the right of that is the Nodes panel. This lists all the available nodes you can use based on different categories. Silhouette is a node-based compositing system. You can drag nodes from this panel up to the Trees panel and connect them into node networks, which are called node trees. Each piece of footage you might work on will have a unique session, and each session will have its own node tree. When a node is selected here, you'll see its options or parameters down here in the Parameters panel. Note that there are parameters for the node itself, but also any objects that node may carry. There's an Object tab right here, and objects might be masks, layers, trackers, or brushes. If you have any objects like those on a node, you'll see the parameters right here. You'll see that the Nodes tab here in the center has a Timeline tab right beside it. Here's a timeline where you can work on your animation. Some parameters support curves, in which case this also becomes a Curves Editor. Of course, you have your Viewer and your Playback Controls. Viewer Options at the top, and also your Main Menu at the top. So there are the main components of the Silhouette interface. We're now ready to begin our first project.
