Slating and room tone

- This is Producing a Video Crew. Video is slating and room tone, take one. (slate slapping) - Well, you saw the slate, so you know we use them. I think it's a great thing for you to use too. And it's something that your crew is responsible for and a practice that's really going to make the logging and editing of footage much easier. And that's the practice known as slating. So there are many different types of slates, you saw one that's just a plain physical slate. There are also electronic slates that have, you know, a little ticker number that shows the time code rolling off. There are smartphone slates, there's lots of different ways to do it, but the main thing is it's really helpful to have slates when you're going to be recording in lots of different locations, lots of different settings, different camera talent, different issues or content, it's very nice to have that so when you're scanning that footage you can just quickly see that slate and know where to start and pickup…
