Social media strategies: Facebook

- In today's world of sophisticated technology and instant access to the masses, it seems to be easier than ever to publish original content but it can be harder than ever to get notice. And getting noticed on the right social media platforms by the right people is most of the battle. So let's talk more about making sure that you're doing the right thing on some of the big social media platforms, each containing its own rules, and culture, and targets. First up in this video, let's talk about Facebook. As you're probably aware, it is the largest and most ubiquitous social media platform by far. You probably already know how to use Facebook for personal networking and keeping tabs on your favorite people, groups, and businesses, as well as how to use many built-in apps for a plethora of uses. But let's focus and talk just about professional social media marketing strategy. Facebook videos are most often consumed in a passive search environment rather than an active one. That is audiences discover videos by having them pop in their news feed, rather than by entering key words to search for them. So bottom line, it's important that you do what you can in order to have your videos appear in as many news feeds among your target demographic as possible. So the first order of business is to build a dynamic business page, which will be your home base for managing your communication strategy. People who come to your page will read your posts, look at your photos and videos, discover events, interact with others, and more. So populate the page with informative and engaging content pertinent to your brand and your overall strategy. As far as posting goes, don't just offer a one-way flow of information. Focus on getting your audience to really engage with your content. Facebook prioritizes posts in its algorithm with lots of dynamic back and forth discussion in the comments, so work to create an environment for that rich interaction for your videos. You also might try to incentivize people to share your posts so that your content can enter new networks, which is ultimately how you'll be able to attract new followers. Along those lines, do keep in mind that your posts will be entering people's own personal spaces, where they are primarily engaging with friends, and family, and their favorite brands. Most people on Facebook prefer content rooted in entertainment and emotional connection. So try to fit in this environment naturally, so people remain interested in your posts. In other words, you don't want to come off as too salesy. In additional to relying on traditional social media networking methods, you can use additional resources as well. Facebook Ads uses social graph and activities to pinpoint those who fall in your target demographic. For this reason, you can use Facebook Ads to connect with people who are actually looking for your services. This usually results in finding people who wouldn't not otherwise see your content. Facebook Ads also tries to optimize its algorithm so that your content isn't wasted on those who aren't in your target demographic. Instead, it's all about putting the right thing in the hands of right people, at the right time. One more thing I'll mention is that using Facebook Live can be a great strategy. It can reap serious benefits by creating instant content that can connect with your audience directly. There is an authenticity in live videos that really resonates with audiences, especially when you can interact back and forth with your audience in real time. Finally, some good logistics to remember This can be a great way to introduce your brand in a fun way. You can also create playlists to make it easier for your audience to find similar videos. And also, it's better to upload videos directly to Facebook rather than embedding them because native Facebook videos give you analytics and better visibility in the feed. And of course, as you nail down your video strategy on Facebook, be sure to set goals in terms of various analytics, your likes, and views, and engagement and then track your performance.
