- Maximizing flexibility. I'm a big fan of creating downstream flexibility for my clients, most of whom need to reuse and repurpose whatever we're shooting for multiple projects and multiple platforms. So my rule of thumb is always to acquire the content at the highest possible quality, in the best possible resolution, both audio-wise and video-wise, that I can. So for me, that means shooting 4K or 4K UHD and recording my audio at 48 kilohertz. If I'm shooting any scenes in slow-motion, then I cover them twice, once at that frame rate and once at a normal frame rate, just so I'm sure I have sync sound to go with that if I change my mind about how I want to use that scene. I also shoot interviews with two cameras whenever possible. It is amazing how much faster the edit goes when we have that cutaway camera option, and it also often makes the interview subject more comfortable, because I just have an option to go to a side camera and maybe I don't have to ask quite so many questions or…
