Talking to and working with post

- Post production is kind of like a black art. With artists sitting in front of computers, often for hours on end in these little darkened rooms. You know the post world can be intimidating for new producers because you're not exactly sure what you're supposed to be doing. It's important you understand how to talk to, and more importantly, listen so you can get the finished project you're looking for. The first thing to do, is to make sure the post team is aware of the data you are giving them. Don't just hand them a hard drive and expect to get to work. Go through the data with them, so they understand what they're getting and how it's organized. The best way to do this, is to open the drive on a computer and walk through the materials with them. This allows them to ask questions, and for you to ensure that nothing was left off the drive, or that you need to get more materials for the post team.
