Tips for pulling a great key
- [Instructor] Okay, so now that we've seen the basics of these two keyers, I'm going to give you a list of things to look out for while you're keying. Now, some of these have to do with how the footage was shot, so we'll talk about them more at the end of this course in the chapter on Shooting Visual Effects. But it's still good to be aware of these issues, regardless. Sometimes, you know, as your visual effects person, you might be consulted during production about how things should be shot or whatever, and it's just kind of good to know that kind of stuff. So, first let's talk about the background itself. Now it should be lit with even lighting across the whole surface. Like we saw with the Moire pattern in the last tutorial, uneven lighting often requires different keying settings in different areas and that can cause problems. We'll talk about how to light a screen evenly, later in this course. Also, for best results the screen should be as close to green, or blue for blue…
