- Once you're done shooting, you're likely going to end up with some footage and that footage needs to find a home because you're going to want to recycle your memory cards to go back out and shoot. Now, there are many different ways of doing this, but let's start by talking about SSD drives and what you need to do with the footage. While you could edit directly from an SSD, it's probably a good idea to get that footage backed up. I don't actually recommend starting to edit with footage until you've backed it up to two locations. That way, you're protected against data loss. Now, I've attached some direct-attached storage here. It's two hard drives rated together for a performance rate and this is going to improve the editing performance 'cause the two drives can work together. But there are lots of different storage solutions out there. What you'll need to do is attach the SSD to your computer.
