- While your camera is capable of making great photos, with your talent of course added into the mix, it has to record those pictures somewhere. And this is where recording media comes into play. Now the cameras support different recording media types. And two of the most popular formats are going to be memory cards, SD cards and CFast cards. But not all cards are supported, particularly as you start to record higher quality formats on your camera, you're going to want to go with higher quality memory cards. And while a CFast card looks very similar to an older style compact flashcard, they're definitely not the same. I strongly recommend you check Blackmagic's website, where they post an up-to-date list of tested cards that work well with the particular cameras. You're going to want to make sure that the cards you use are approved and recommended.
