- [Instructor] A visual effects supervisor is the person on-set that's in charge of making sure things are shot in a way that will be best for the visual effects. You know, most filmmakers, just, bless their hearts, they have no clue how visual effects work. They have no idea that creating a CG character and rigging it is much more difficult than adding some sparkles with particulate or something. The visual effects supervisor is there on-set during production, to inform the production of the most ideal way to shoot things in order to get the results they're looking for in the best way. Usually visual effects supervisors are there to save time, but also to make sure that the director's going to be able to get the final shot in post that they're looking for. So for example if you're a visual effects supervisor, and the director is shooting into a blank blue sky to composite birds in later, you might suggest to pick up a little clouds in the shot, or maybe a little bit of the ground at…
