Using sync sound in Final Cut Pro X

- Let's take a look at syncing audio inside a Final Cut 10. It's pretty straightforward. Now I've selected a library here and let's just go ahead and Import Media. I'll click the Import Media button and navigate to the folder that contains the source file. In this case I see a movie and an audio file. Now I can choose to add them to an existing event or make a new event. Let's make a new one here and we'll put it inside the Interview Library and we'll name it with our subject. I can choose to copy the files into the library or leave them in place if I don't want to duplicate the media. In this case I don't feel the need for any keywords but I am going to take a look here at the audio and mark this as being Dialogue. I can see here that the levels are just a little high in a few places. So I'm going to choose to analyze and fix things here. Let's go ahead and Create optimized media for this H.265 file, and also Analyze the video. I'll also Analyze and fix the audio problems and that looks good. Now what I can do is click Import Selected and the material is added into the library. Let's create a new project and I'll name it, and click OK. Now up here I'll select both of the clips and from the clip menu I'll choose Synchronize Clips. In this case I can decide how to handle things. I'm going to rename this Adam Interview and I'll tell it to keep it in the event called Adam. I'm going to use the audio for purposes of synchronization but tell it to remove the original source audio from the audio video clip and it's going to take a look here based on common properties or where the audio overlaps. If needed I can choose Use custom settings here to be a little bit more specific if I want to adjust any properties for the video or its frame rate. I can also tell it how to handle the file when it's done. When I'm ready I'll click OK. This analyzes the two clips for synchronization and then makes a new clip. You see it's there with the new name and what I can do is drag that here into my project. There we go and there's my interview. - At the intramural League in the office this year people can either join the softball team or the dodgeball team. - And the audio and video are synced up with the better audio automatically added to the project. That's how easy it is to do inside of Final Cut Pro 10.
