Welcome

- Hi, I'm Ashley Kennedy. Thank you for joining me in this course Making Video To Sell Something. This is one of a series of Making Video Courses where we talk about how to create different types of videos for different purposes, and different types of audiences. The common characteristic of all of these courses is that we're making films on a very low budget. Using a smartphone as the primary camera and a limited amount of other production equipment. We're also assuming relatively little, or no experience in video production whatsoever. So if you're someone not in the video industry who wants to make a high quality video at very little cost this is your course. In this course, we'll be making a video to sell something. Specifically, we're teaming up with Ventura-based artisan Lolita Segal helping her to make a high quality video for her company Wood Inspire where she sells air plant pots and other creative wood inspired crafts of nature. Lolita is a lot like many of you. She had a passion. She started making products related to that passion. She started an online shop. And things kind of took off. But after some initial success she was interested in really breaking through to the next level. She knew that in many cases, making some targeted robust marketing efforts integrated with great videos is a nice way to reach that next level. And so even though she had no professional video experience, by the end of our time together she was able to create a very nice short promo that she can use to help grow her business. During this course, I taught her how to plan her video by structuring and scripting it. I showed her how to plan out the shoot so that she could get exactly what she needed in terms of video, audio, images, and more. We talked about how to use the limited amount of production equipment to the maximum of its potential. We covered how to record the videos in various shots and takes. And finally, I showed her how to edit the project in a fun and engaging way so that she could share it with the world. My goal is for you to be able to take the same steps as Lolita in creating video content to sell products of your own. So follow us on our journey as we attempt to inspire audiences with her promotional video.
