Welcome

- Whether you own a production company, you're a freelancer, or you work for someone else, it's important to understand the role of a producer and video producing in general. I'm Walt Biscardi Jr. and I've been in the video production industry for over 26 years and have both owned my own businesses and worked for other companies. I started out as a video editor specializing in all things post-production and then grew my skill. So, I'm just as comfortable managing the overall video production process as I am editing. Now, a big part of video producing is understanding the overall process - what's expected of you as a video producer, and what's expected and the various crew required to complete the project. Now, this is going to be a very high level overview of video producing to give you the basic understanding of the process, including how to assign and manage a video project. Additionally, we'll discuss managing client expectations and how to defuse any potential conflicts that arise during a project. It's important for you to understand right from the beginning it's okay to ask for help. Managing a video project, especially those that involve multiple days and multiple locations, can be daunting. One of the best pieces of advice I can give you is to either shadow an experienced producer on a project or ask them ti assist you on your first producing project. Look, I shadowed several producers before I took on my first solo project. The ability to understand the overall video production workflow will go a long ways toward helping you to manage a well-executed project. So, let's get started.
