What is Rec. 2020?
- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robby Carman. - Rob, we go to the National Association of Broadcasters conference every year, and every year as I walk around the show floor, I'm just inundated with new standards. I remember HDR television coming out. I saw prototypes of 8K displays, and something that kept coming up everywhere I went this past year was this new standard, 2020. - Yeah, Rec. 2020. So Rec. 2020 is something that as professionals we've been hearing about for quite some time. Consumers are just starting to hear about Rec. 2020, and this week we want to kind of explain what it is, what it does, and how it's going to effect both your professional workflow and work life as well as your consumption part of your life. So Rec. 2020 is actually known as BT.2020, and officially known as ITU-R Recommendation BT.2020. That's a mouthful, right? Well what ITU is, is that they're a standards body.
