When to go location scouting

- [Presenter] Location scouting is one of my favorite things to do because it makes sure that I have a visual of where it is we're going to shoot before I've got lots of people around me and lots of other details to juggle. So if at all possible, I always go on a location scout. In fact, I started my career as a location scout for feature films and I went to lots of interesting locations and came back with lots of pictures so that the director could make decisions about camera placement and angles and all of those good things. So I learned a lot by doing that. One of the things that I learned is that when we go on a location scout, not only should you look for good angles for picture but also listen for sound. Are there trains going by? Do they go by at a certain time of day? Are you in the flight path? Do the flights go over at certain times of day?
