When not to use project management

- While the concept of project management is very attractive, it doesn't work in all situations. You need to sometimes rely on traditional management techniques. Project management is generally not the right fit for a functional organization. This is a topic for things like accounting or managing personnel records or doing things like performance reviews. You really need to have some basic practices that are ongoing with the business. This is why project managers often have other managers that they have to interact with. That's because somebody will often control the resources while the project manager is focusing on the project and the deliverables. Additionally, project management really doesn't work well if you're working with a lot of immature employees. People that like to hide problems or are really poor communicators, or haven't yet learned to trust their judgment and speak up when something is going wrong.…
