Where are all my selection tools?

- [Instructor] Just like in Photoshop, After Effects is all about selections. In both applications, there are manual and procedural or automated tools to create them. Here is a quick high level view of what we find in After Effects. The starting point of course is in Photoshop, the marquee tool. And the equivalent up here is this set of tools, each with their own name. Now, they're not called marquee for the simple reason that they do double duty. So if I have no layer selected and I meant to create a mask, I create a shape layer instead. But now I'm going to select the layer and use the ellipse tool to just draw out a mask. Now you can see the mask has appeared down here in the timeline. And the way these work in After Effects is they remain adjustable, including that I can turn them off. I can also add a bit of feather and continue to kind of change my mind about it. And of course, I can create multiple masks.…
