- Once you've taken the film through many painstaking stages of refinement, it's almost time to start screening it for larger audiences. And it's at this stage that some editors definitely go ahead and move forward with getting feedback. But for me, I really like to polish the film, as much as possible, before letting other people watch it. If anyone is hung up on imbalanced or flat color, or audio levels that are too high or too low, or distracting jump cuts, they may not be able to offer you the feedback you really want. Which is how the film is working in terms of its story, structure, style, and character. There have been quite a few times, that I've screened something for someone, and they come back with all of these nit-picky items that have nothing to do with what I really want to know.
