- [Instructor] Traditionally, visual effects have always been referred to as post-production. In the film and television industry, production usually refers to the process of actually filming the main action, so post-production is anything that happens after that. Editing, sound mixing, color grading, and visual effects. Let's take an overview of the whole film making process and see exactly how visual effects will fit in with the other departments and roles during the making of our example project Space Cop. We've already talked about production and post-production, so it shouldn't be a surprise that there is pre-production too. This covers everything that has to happen before filming can take place, and includes script writing, financing, casting, costume design, production design, location scouting, and set building.
