The process behind live video streaming

- Whether you're streaming from a mobile device like this iPhone, or using a professional hardware unit like our Livestream HD550 Switcher and Coder, the flow of data is relatively the same. In either streaming scenario, you start first with a camera and audio source. These can either be built into your mobile device or come from external sources, such as a standalone camera and microphones and mixers. The level of sound and picture quality and control varies according to the capabilities of the audio visual source. However, the path of your sound and picture to the internet is the same. Next your camera and audio signal travels via an ethernet cable or even wirelessly to what's called an encoder. This can either be within your hardware as it is on this HD 550, in the cloud, or both.
