- Now in addition to all the sort of creative side of casting, there are some logistical and organizational things that are worth talking about. The sort of producing side of casting. Now, something to be aware of is that just because someone is a union actor does not automatically mean they are a better actor than people who have not joined the union yet. It takes time to get into the union, the dues are expensive. Everyone who is in the union as an actor started as a non-union actor. So what you don't want to necessarily be doing is thinking about that choice, automatically based on this assumption that all non-union actors are going to be inferior and all union actors are going to be superior.
