The review process

- One of the issues with many creative industries is that there is no clear point at which a task is finished. There is always something that could be finessed or tweaked and when there are so many people working on the same project, there can be conflicting opinions as to what looks best or what is important for each shot. Because of this, there needs to be a structured hierarchy of who's opinion is most important and who is ultimately responsible for the final look and technical proficiency of the visual effect's work. There are lots of steps of approval a shot will go through before it is final. The director has ultimate say on what the final shots will look like but during the production process, they will be busy overseeing things from every discipline. They're working with the editors, the sound designers, music composers and the colorists. They don't have time to see every version of every shot and give feedback, so they have to trust that the client-side visual effects…
