The rise of smartphones

- One of the biggest changes that affects people who create audio and video content for the web is the rise in smartphones, they've changed things a lot, now we have a screen that fits in your pocket with decent battery life, and chances are a constant data connection making it possible to get whatever audio and video that you want with just a few seconds or a couple of clicks. So what happened, well smartphones have changed everything, the Apple iPhone was a big part of this but of course Google's caught up with the Android platform and we now have two phone ecosystems that are very robust, but it didn't start this way, the original mobile phone debuted in 1983 and it was the Motorola DynaTac, they cost four grand, weighed two and a half pounds and was 10 inches tall without the antennae, this did not fit in to your pocket, nor was there a screen but it was the precursor of being able to get content or stay connected on the go.
