The role of pre-interviews
- I am a huge fan of doing pre-interviews. And I know that for many of us working very, very quickly it's very hard to fit them in. Sometimes you've got to interview you know, important people, VIPs, the head of the company or interview people who are not available to you or are in foreign countries, in different time zones. I understand all that. But if there's any way you can possibly do it, even if you don't call it a pre-interview and you just call it a quick phone conversation, it's really key and I'll tell you why. First of all, as the interviewer onset you want to have had some interaction with that person. Any rapport that you can build in advance is going to make your interview go much more smoothly. They're going to be much more comfortable with you.
