Git at a glance: Updates to the Visual Studio status bar
- [Instructor] Visual Studio 2015 update one makes it easier to seek Git information at a glance. It does this by adding some tools and messages to the Visual Studio status bar. You can see them in the lower right hand corner of Visual Studio in this area. This information exists in other tool windows so it's been available for a while. The main benefit from this update, from having the data here on the status bar is that you get important information without having to open other windows. In this example I can see in this area that I have the VisualStudio.WeeklyTips repo open. If I didn't have the status bar information I'd have to go to Team Explorer, open the connections section, open local Git repositories and then look for the item in bold. But with this update I can just glance down there and see that I have the correct repo open. This area over here is my favorite part of this update which shows the current branch that I have checked out, and I can see that I have a problem. I'm…
