- Now it's time to talk about making your interface support the types of behaviors that people use computers for when they're researching, whether that research is as simple as finding a new pair of shoes to buy or as complex as determining the global sales demand for a certain category of footwear over the next 18 months. I found that thinking about workflow in terms of researching, iterating, and taking action helps to make sure you've included the right tools in your interface. Tools for searching, sorting, and filtering help with the research side. Tools for tracking changes and performing what-if analysis help with the iteration part of the process. Tools for seeing status, detail, and the available actions help your users feel confident that they can take action.
