Polish isn't everything

- Believe it or not, you can make your portfolio even stronger by including the not-so-perfect stuff. That's because every employer knows that real world design projects often involve iteration and compromise, and when you show them that you know how to handle those things, it can actually be a plus. You are, in fact, demonstrating a valuable skill set. Here are a few less-than-perfect things that you might consider including. First, paths not taken. If there were some initial design concepts that you rejected, you might consider including some of those in your portfolio. Rejected concepts actually provide a lot of insight, both into your creative mind, and also into your problem-solving process. You can explain what you liked and didn't like about them, what you thought worked and what didn't. You can talk about how they were received by your colleagues and clients.
