- One question where things can get murky fast is how will you measure success? I mentioned before that I'm okay with a mix of quantitative, measurable goals, such as increased sales or unique visitors, and qualitative, hard to measure ones, like lowering your own irritation level when you look at your web site. But if you don't have any measurable goals, you could have trouble when it comes time to assess your client's happiness levels. How will they know that you've done your job well? It's also a problem if they give you a measurable, but non-specific goal, like increased sales. Everyone wants to increase sales, and increased sales is not nearly specific enough. So your objectives should be measurable in some respect. If you're looking for an upswing in sales, tell me how much of an upswing. In what time frame, and ideally, what strategies we're looking to employ. For example, we're going to increase sales by 20% in three months by improving the interface on your shopping cart…
