Sharing your client's pain

- When your portfolio shows that you understand your client's priorities, you not only make it easier for them to imagine how you'll be able to help them, but you'll also create opportunities for more work. Because when you focus on the deliverables, you tend to encourage people to order off the menu, so to speak. For instance, if you describe a project by saying, "This client came to us wanting to increase her email list subscriptions," so we put a big sign up box at the top of every page. You're likely to get new customers coming to you and asking for the exact same treatment. In a perfect world, you actually want people coming to you and saying, "I've got this challenge. "I want to grow my list. "How would you suggest that I address it?" Because that gives you the opportunity to consult more deeply with the client and find out what their deeper goals are, and then custom tailor a solution for them. Maybe that includes some content strategy work on top of your design work and you…
