Brain science: Why we buy
- Consider these three facts. Alexa only works about 40% of the time, but people still love her. If an influencer or a blogger discloses that they're paid and sponsored, instead of thinking the review will be biased, their credibility actually increases. Posting a video alongside of a product description, even it's silly boosts sales by over 64%. What's going on here? Our brains process information in unimaginable speeds, and while we'd like to think that we make decisions based on careful consideration, in reality 95% of our decisions are unconscious. Storytelling is so powerful, because it triggers a biological response. A story grabs attention, elicits emotion, and engages people. When you're invested in a good story, your brain responds to it.
