Building a journey map

- Once you've determined scope, it's time to start gathering the information you need to put together your journey map. Regardless of the type, journey maps are typically comprised of the same core parts. The first section sets the context of what you're looking at and includes a summary of the actor whose journey will be shown and a brief description of the scenario you're mapping. The next section describes the core of the journey and generally includes a high-level breakdown of the phases, the specific interactions and touchpoints, and a description of the user's mindsets and emotions. Emotion is often presented as a graph over time. There may also be an additional section that ties the information together and provides relevant information, such as pain points to address, opportunities to improve, notes on future plans or who owns the data.
